La Jolla Cove, because of its unique location, has its own microclimate that keeps temperatures between 50 and 90 degrees almost 365 days a year. Originally conceived as a protected swimming area for children, the sea-walled Children's Pool began to fill with sand and eventually, sea lions and harbor seals. Today, it is a great place to take the kids and walk along the seawall for gorgeous 360-degree views of La Jolla and the Pacific ocean....and the harbor seals basking on the beach below.
