As part of our continuing commitment to the environment, the Grande Colonial Hotel has unveiled the following green initiatives:

We are La Jolla's "original green" hotel. In other words, we have taken a historic building and "recycled" it over the years, rather than tearing it down.
We have an in-house Environmental Committee dedicated to seeking new ways to preserve our hotel environment and reduce, reuse and recycle.
We have a new hot water system that reduces energy use and water temperature during off peak times of the day.
We have a comprehensive hotel recycling program that includes all 93 guest rooms and suites.
We use fluorescent lights to reduce the amount of energy used throughout the hotel.

All of our paper products, as well as printed collateral materials, are made of 20% recycled material.
We have a linen re-use program for guest room towels and bed linens.
Our NINE-TEN Restaurant uses all bio-degradable to-go bags, containers and cups.
All of our shower heads are 2.5 gallon low flow shower heads.
All of our toilets are 1.6 gallon low flow toilets.
Digital thermostats have been installed in each guest room and suite to keep room temperatures constant.
We recycle all batteries, computer parts, light bulbs, and paper, plastic, glass and aluminum products.
