SUMMARY:Nocturnes: Pointeworks III
DESCRIPTION:Passion\, creativity\, and dedication to the art of dance are the driving forces of Pointeworks. Founded in 2023 by Artistic Director Sophie Williams\, a California native with an international dance career\, Pointeworks was born as a nonprofit performing arts company with a vision to elevate the voices of female artists and to bring cutting-edge ballet to her hometown of San Diego. Based in Southern California\, Pointeworks is committed to inspiring our community by celebrating the voices of dance\, as it strives to nurture and connect artists of all backgrounds\, and bring a balance to the kinds of voices that are represented on stage through classical and contemporary works. \nBrilliant\, bold\, and not to be missed—Pointeworks returns to The Conrad this summer with Nocturnes: Five Ballets\, an evening of extraordinary dance and live music. Curated by Artistic Director Sophie Williams\, Season Three brings together world-class artists from across the country in a dynamic program choreographed entirely by women. \nThe performance features two world premieres: Jacquelyn Long’s new ballet\, Moving Forces\, with an original score by award-winning composer Katie Jenkins\, performed live by virtuosic pianist Joshua Mhoon and violinist Julia Choi\, and a new creation by acclaimed choreographer Keerati Jinakunwiphat\, a 2023 Princess Grace Award winner and the first Asian American woman commissioned to create for New York City Ballet. \nThe heart of Nocturnes lies in three ballets that illuminate love in its many forms. Audiences will experience the Northern Hemisphere premiere of Andrea Schermoly’s Romeo and Juliet\, a poetic reimagining of Shakespeare’s timeless romance; Dani Rowe’s Unsaid\, staged by the legendary Sofiane Sylve and hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as “another dark heartbreaker” that earned a standing ovation; and the return of Reka Gyulai’s Transcendence\, which enthralled audiences last season with its sweeping imagery and powerful exploration of love’s endurance. \nWith groundbreaking premieres\, richly imagined love stories\, and commanding contemporary works\, Nocturnes expands the boundaries of ballet—making dance more relevant\, immersive\, and electrifying than ever. \nUse discount code GRANDE10 when purchasing tickets to receive 10% off tickets for all events this season.

SUMMARY:A Walk on Water Surf Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Since launching in 2012\, A Walk On Water has served thousands of children with unique needs\, and their families through transformative Surf Therapy. This Surf Therapy is uniquely built on the concept of including the entire family in a connection to the healing powers of the ocean and our natural world. By creating positive\, uplifting\, and empowering experiences\, we are rewriting the expectation of what “therapy” can be. \nSurf Therapy is generally defined as the act of guided surf instruction provided by highly-trained Surf Instructors\, in concert with a carefully constructed and supportive team of volunteers and staff. While Surf Therapy is the core offering and the driving force of their efforts\, their events offer additional elements that add to the ability to feel fulfilled and rejuvenated. Some of the offerings include: yoga\, massage therapy\, art therapy\, music therapy\, food and drink\, and many different variations of sport and play on the beach. \nLa Jolla Shores beach will be the host of this upcoming Walk on Water event.
