“I had an absolutely amazing stay at the Grande Colonial easily a five-star experience from start to finish. The location is unbeatable, right next to the water with stunning views and everything you could possibly need within walking distance. Being able to step outside and instantly be in the heart of it all made the trip so much more enjoyable. One of the standout perks was the fantastic valet service, especially with free overnight parking, which made everything seamless and stress-free. I also loved the complimentary bikes, they were perfect for cruising along the beach and taking in the scenery at a relaxed pace. The hotel itself has such a welcoming and charming atmosphere. The pool area was ideal for unwinding, whether it was a quiet morning or a relaxing afternoon break. And the on-site, award-winning restaurant was incredible delicious food, great ambiance, and top-tier service without even having to leave the property. What really made the stay exceptional, though, was the customer service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making the experience memorable. Between the unbeatable location, thoughtful amenities, and outstanding service, this hotel truly has it all. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect coastal getaway.”

“The restaurant is lovely. We sat outside on the terrace with heaters nearby because it was a little chilly. We had virgin mojitos and started with the sourdough bread with salted butter. Bread was delicious! We both had the swordfish with a yummy creamy sauce and the most delicious peas and pea tendrils that I’ve ever had! The fish was perfectly done and seasoned very well. For dessert, we had the amazing half-baked chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Good thing we shared because it was very rich. Cappuccinos were really foamy and delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Overall we had a fabulous dinner!”

“After enjoying Nine-Ten for over 15 years and close to 100 visits, it has been a pleasure to rediscover it once again. After a stretch of time, particularly during the COVID period, when dining out was limited, returning has been especially rewarding, including experiencing their breakfast and lunch offerings. The service remains excellent, and both the coffee and dishes stand out. The pancakes and short rib panini, in particular, feel like signature items well worth trying. On weekends, when nearby cafés are often crowded, this place feels like a hidden gem. There are no long lines, yet the quality is easily on par with, and often exceeds, more popular spots. You continue to deliver consistently, and I always look forward to coming back.”

“How do I even intro this? I got married at the Grande Colonial and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. Grande Colonial is historical, classic, and charming. Few other venues could do justice to my beautiful bride. I can’t imagine a better place to have gotten married, for me. I could see how it might not be perfect for everyone, but I write this review with an indescribable fondness for the hotel at 910 Prospect Street. Check-in was easy. Valet and the bellhop were very helpful in getting our bags and various wedding items up to our room. The room itself — the Ocean View King Junior Suite — was spacious and clean, but the star of the show was the ocean view, of course. It’s so beautiful, looking out when you first wake up or during the sunset. The ceremony and happy hour were in the garden courtyard. Quaint, quiet, and absolutely perfect during sunset. It’s enough room for a small wedding, which is exactly what we were going for. We even had space for a keyboard player, who was fantastic. We had our reception in the La Jolla room, which was also just right for the wedding size. For food, we chose the Crab Louie to start. It was light and refreshing. Then, guests had either the short rib or the duck. Both were top-notch but the short rib might’ve been slightly better. Also, the fresh sourdough bread was so good. The venue was able to hook up a sound system for music and microphones for speeches without a hitch. Their staff were friendly, collaborative, and easy to work with, and they added special touches and gestures (like champagne in our room) that truly made our big day feel that much more perfect. All of this couldn’t have happened without the catering manager, Daisy. Even though our wedding was small, she made us feel important. So that’s it. The perfect review for the perfect day, right? No, there’s no possible way I could do it justice.”

“I recently arranged a high-profile meeting at Grande Colonial. Arranging something like this in a city I didn’t know, at a location I’d never seen, for people from literally all over the world can be nerve-wracking, at least for me. Molly, the event planner, made it easy. I was thrilled with the results and, more importantly, our attendees were as well. One attendee from Houston commented on how charming the hotel was; another person from New York loved being able to sit on the Grande Terrace while she worked. We had several properties in the area from which to choose and I’m so glad we decided on the Grande Colonial, a unique proprety with character, quality and excellent staff.”
